The Good Marriage Course

How to Build a Healthy Marriage that Lasts a Lifetime

Fancy a relaxed, candlelit meal for two, each week for seven weeks in the New Year that involves no cooking or washing up and a chance to really talk to your partner about the stuff you never get time to discuss?

If so, you are invited to join us for The Good Marriage Course, for any couple wanting to build and maintain a strong and healthy marriage. The seven-week course is relevant for every couple but especially so if you are at a new stage in your relationship – for example after becoming parents, a career change, living with teenagers at home or possibly adjusting to an empty nest. The course is offered by St Mary’s Barnes, but is suitable for all, regardless of any religious beliefs. All discussion time is purely with your partner and not within the group.

The first session is a taster and is free, after which you can decide to sign up if you would like to attend the rest of the course. The cost of the course is £100 per couple which covers costs of course material, dinner & wine. Topics covered are: Building a strong foundation, communication, resolving conflict, forgiveness, parents and in-laws, and marital relations.

What people say

One couple said two years after having their second child, this was a great opportunity to set aside time to focus on their relationship in a structured and enjoyable way. They identified a number of areas that they had neglected in the blur of bringing up a young family and took from the course some very practical suggestions on how they could improve their relationship.

“We really enjoyed the course and got an enormous amount out of it. Even though we have been married for ages there were lots of new tools and techniques which helped us feel closer and understand each other better.”

Another couple said that so often the ” not quite important enough” things remain unsaid when they really need talking about.
Likewise, in the day to day hustle of life, conflicts arise too easily and are not fully resolved. They felt as a result of the course, they could get to the bottom of disagreements more calmly and heal them more swiftly than before.
