We were hopeful to continue the amazing upward trend of bikes donated and sold, therefore the resulting proceeds seen in recent years – but Covid-19 had other ideas. The Barnes Fair has been cancelled for 2020.  We really want to run The Barnes Charity Bike Sale, if at all possible. Our charities always need the money we raise, but this year the need is of course even greater.

In 2019, we processed 273 bikes in total. 229 were spruced up and sold, 12 were given to the Bike Project after the sale and the rest were used for spare parts. 165 bikes were gift-aided bringing in an extra £12,450 in income. The total proceeds of almost £17.000 were shared between St Mary’s, UTS, Castelnau Centre, Age UK and GlassDoor.

We were helped hugely by the marketing expertise provided by Jamie Vickery. He has joined our impressive and enthusiastic team of volunteers willing to get stuck in and get their hands dirty.  A huge thank you to everybody who helped!

We would welcome anyone else who would be able to offer some time. Specific areas of activity are admin, publicity, bike repair and maintenance, bike washing and making endless cups of tea to keep the team happy!
